Improving What We Do ...

I'm working on some additional promotions to help pets for first quarter 2011; one thing that will help me help regional groups receive greater awareness is if you publish your urgent lists and pet transport networking here on this website. As this site gains visibility locally and statewide, your posts will too creating greater awareness for the animals in need. The details below give insight… Continue

Milton the chinese crested (Yorkie?) mix rescued from Irving Animal Shelter needs donations to remove many of his teeth!

Milton was rescued from Irving Animal Shelter, a kill shelter in Irving, TX, on 11/23/2010. He is in dire need of dental work - his teeth are rotting and most need to come out. The person who rescued him is low on funds and cannot afford to get this done right now - he is in pain every time he eats. Please donate if you can to help this poor boy get the dental work he deserves.

****I am re-posting this - this is not my Chipin nor do I personally know the rescuer, so please…

Three female dogs in urgent need of a new address

I am not an official dog rescue but my family has frequently come in contact with abandoned dogs and cats and they have brought them home for rehabilitation and re-homing. We don't like to see any dog or cat abandoned and we don't like to see any sent to the pound where they'll face euthanasia a few days down the road. But, now we face a serious problem and we're in need of help immediately. Three of the eight dogs we have rescued here have taken to getting into fights and I'm not talking…

Here's Gracie and Fred!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to show these pics of Fred and Gracie. They have come a long way and I bet some people don't even recognize them.

Gracie is going into heat so I will spay her a little earlier than I would like. It is scheduled for tomorrow. She is now off of all antibiotics and anit-fungals and is only on the mange medication. She is doing fantastic!

Fred is still on antibiotics but should be able to get off of them soon. He does not look like the same dog!…

Dash Needs A Home!!

Dash was found scared, hungry and very lost but he lucked out! He was rescued by a very nice animal lover here in Austin who took great pains to get Dash all healthy again. Now Dash is 100% good to go! He is heart-worm negative, up to date on his vaccinations, and neutered! Dash is also a DOLL. He is good with other dogs, good with cats, loves people, and will probably be just fine with little kids as soon as he gets a little more training and learns not to jump up on them! Dash is also a… Continue

HEB gets eggs from a Producer with "Shocking, Unacceptable Conditions"

I know that we are mostly interested in finding the fur kiddos new, and wonderful homes. The main reason I am going to post this article because I believe that animal welfare is important in the food production industry as well.

I saw this report on the Humane Society of the US and wanted to pass it on. If you're like most Texans, you shop at HEB. When you read this article, you… Continue

URGENT! Basset Hound In gassing shelter

Roscoe is in a gassing shelter in Abbville, LA. he has until Monday the latest. There is a rescue in Minnesota that can take him but if someone down here is able to adopt or foster him it would be much better. He has gotten a lot of publicity on Facebook and I started a chip in fund to help with transport and pulling process which would include shots, hw, neuter. http://roscoe.chipin.com/roscoe-the-basset-hound ; If anyone… Continue

Update on the Mangy Gang!

Hello everyone!

Man, it has been a great week! The Mange Crew are doing fantastic! I have to say their personalities are hysterical and I would have never believed that those poor, shivering creatures could ever be happy like this. They are going to make some famillies VERY lucky.

Gracie is getting her peach fuzz more and more. She looks so funny! But at least she is not crusty anymore.

Fred is still pretty sensitive on his head, but boy is he a happy guy! LOVES people…

Blu, the Poster Child for Advocacy Against Dog Fighting

It is sometimes easy to pretend the horror of dog-fighting does not exist. It is very difficult for me to believe that there are actually people out there that encourage a dog to attack and brutally kill another living being. Unfortunately, these people do exist and perform atrocities everyday.

I pulled a large, intimidating, pure bred Pit Bull from Collin County Animal Services Sunday. His right front leg was not functional and he drug it around like he had no feeling in it. After…

Possible adoption?

Mom has been working with her "sugar bear" to get ready for a forever home. There has been some interest expressed in her there in mom's home town! She was supposed to leave for her trip to NH today, but it was decided that she needed to spend a bit more time with her foster mommy while some potential forever homes could be checked into a bit further!

I'll keep you updated, but it might seem she may stay right there in La Vernia (outside of San Antonio) instead of becoming a…

Gracie, Fred, Ginger and our Newcomer

Hello Friends! It has been a few days. Everyone is doing very well. You can barely tell that Ginger even had a skin problem. You can finally pet Gracie without feeling scabs all over her. Fred is coming along nicely and only has scabs on his face now. I could not have asked for better patients!

We got a new arrival 2 days ago. A pure bred Pit Bull was dropped off at the shelter as a hit by car. The guy that dropped him off said he hit him with his car and wanted to make sure he was…
